Whats going on with the Democrats?

Posted in News, Politics, Uncategorized with tags , , , on May 7, 2008 by Rob

If you live under a rock, you wouldn’t have known that Barack Obama won North Carolina by a huge margin, thanks to the Black Vote. But in Indiana, it was a different story. Hillary Clinton won but only by a few points. What carried her was the white, blue collar voters.

What does this mean? Hillary lost one state and gained another. Is she going to call it quits? Personally I don’t think she will. I am thinking she’ll throw in the towel around June, and not earlier. People are telling her to quit, but she still has plenty of fight left. She has been able to turn around major defeats, and she is still giving Obama a run for his money. But this is not enough. Each day it seems more delegates are choosing Obama, and each day is a tougher battle for Hillary to win. I really don’t think she’ll get the nominee, but she is trying hard. Maybe West Virginia or Kentucky will finally put Hillary out of her misery. How knows. Ever time there is a major primary, people say it is the end all be all, and Hillary still manages to stay in. Maybe these next primaries, Hillary might just say it is over and leave the race.

Or Hillary might get two wins. Because both West Virginia and Kentucky have a huge rural, white, and blue collar voting base, and we all know Obama just can’t get those votes.

Hillary bitter as Obama Gains

Obama too Cool for USA

My View

Once upon a time, Hillary Clinton had the Democratic Nomination in her back pocket. Everything was going so swell. Believing she could build off of her husband’s popularity. Clinton had high hopes. Then a man by the name of Barack Obama stepped on to the seen. Obama was different; he did not talk specifically about important issues. Instead Obama talked about formless ideals like “hope” and “change”. The world viewed Obama as manna from heaven. Is this man really going to change Washington? Will he unite all Americans under the banner of hope and change? Will he make America a better nation?

These where the questions we simple folk asked and pondered. Hillary, a battle-tested and scarred politician, that many viewed as too damn polarized. Hillary was unable to adapt against a person that only speaks feel good rhetoric. Hillary could only win people that supported Hillary Clinton. While Barack Obama on the other hand, seemed to have a King Midas touch, whoever Obama talked too, they converted believed in his feel good rhetorical ideals. Originally Hillary thought she would easily win this election. Now Hillary is in a fight a man that has the ability to make people faint at speeches.

Fast forward to May first. Hillary has suffered defeat after defeat at the hands of Obama, yet a brief ray of hope pierced the battlegrounds.  Less then two weeks ago, Hillary won an important state. Pennsylvania. It was because of this win that she was able to breathe new life into her campaign, yet that wasn’t enough to convince the Gods of the Democratic Party. There is still news that many of the delegates are going to support Obama, no matter who wins Indiana or North Carolina

Today Hillary Clinton has lost another superdelegate to Obama’s camp. To make it ever more personal, this superdelegate was the leader DNC under Bill Clinton. Adding an insult to injury, superdelegate Joe Andrew, told all the delegates to decide on a candidate and end this bloodbath. The two main reasons why Andrew switched is because Obama handled the Reverend Wright issues very professionally and that Obama was against the gasoline tax break during the summer. These two acts showed Andrews that Obama had political guts to stand against the norm.

Obama seemed to have captured the imaginations of all the people whom he speaks to. Yes Obama had his sort comings. Like being in a church for 20 years with a racist pastor, yet all Obama had to do is say that he is “offended by him,” and just distance himself away That’s it, all problems are solved with Reverend Wright.

It is amazing how many people are willing to stand up for Obama. All Obama needs to do is to close his eyes and wish all the problems way, and poof! All his campaign problems disappear and the American people instantly forget everything he has said and done, and just continue to sing his praises. For Obama has the media and left-wing radicals kissing the ground he walks on, and are willing to do anything for him. For example, John Kerry said today, that we must not dwell on Reverend Wright, and that we should leave it in the past. I can only begin to wonder how Obama’s presidency will be when he makes a mistake. From what I am seeing now, no one will care. Obama could allow the USA to be taken over by another country and the Democrats will still sing him praises.

Obama Catching Up Fast

My View:

Clinton is behind in everything except superdelegates, yet that may change soon. Obama managed to claw away at her superdelegate lead. Barack is only down by 295. This means these Indiana and North Carolina are going to the make or break for Hillary and Obama. If Hillary wins then all the delegates need to rethink about her. If Hillary can pull off two victories, let alone one. Then she proves to the superdelegates that she has the ability to turn the tides.

On the other hand, if Obama is the victor. Then it is game over for Hillary. Then Obama is free to focus on building a larger support base for the general election to defeat McCain. That will be the major problem. Obama took a lot of hits during this Democratic nominee race, and a lot of dirt was dug up. I don’t need to go into detail, most of you have seen the news. That has caused Obama to become a polarized figure. It is going to take a lot of work to turn that image around. I know that Obama will not win the general election, just because of all the stuff that was brought to the light in the past couple of months. If he thinks the pounding he is receiving now is tough, wait until the whole force of Republican party is out to destroy him. Everything that Obama did wrong in his past will come to light, and I guarantee you that Reverend Wright issue will be brought up again, but with vengeance.

Don’t get me wrong, McCain will have his fair share of problems too. Just read my past posts. He will have problems trying to unite the Republican party. Most conservatives think McCain is too cozy with the liberal left. Not only that, McCain supported and developed many pro-democrat legalisation and bills, and at times McCain would be the only Republican that would support pro-democrat legalisation. McCain just doesn’t have any loyalty to his party. I don’t consider him a real Republican. Hell I should throw my vote away. I should vote for Ron Paul.

Delegates Back Obama

Posted in News, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , on April 30, 2008 by Rob

DEVELOPING STORY

Obama should count his lucky stars. There is some indication that the delegates are going to back Senator Barack Obama. The superdelegates on capital hill are strongly hinting that they have already decided to support Obama. Do to the fact that Obama managed to beat Hillary in most of the primaries. Senator Claire McCaskill, a superdelegate said: “The majority of superdelegates I’ve talked to are committed [to Obama], but it is a matter of timing.”

In a nutshell, it seems like Obama has the election in the bag. All Hillary Clinton is doing is clutching at straws. The delegates are going stand behind Obama. The question is when are they going to make that announcement? Maybe after May 6th. The delegates holding off just to see if Obama can talk his way out of the Reverend Wright controversy. If Obama can win Indiana, North Carolina, and successfully spin Reverend Wright’s controversy; then, Obama will have the nomination in the bag.

When Obama wins the nomination, and is overjoyed that he destroyed Hillary. Yet Obama’s true test of character will begin. Obama is going to have a harder problem with the rest of the country. This Democratic Primary has shed light on many negative attributes about Obama. From Reverend Wright, to his wife’s comments, to his patriotism, and even his missing American flag on his lapel. These things and more will affect his ability to win over the American people.

Yesterday, in Obama’s press conference that he rejected Reverend Wright. On that day we saw Obama’s true side. To explain what I am talking about. I shall use a comparable phrase that Obama used to explain his grandmother (He called his grandmother a “typical white person.”) That Obama is a typical politician, and he really needs to get his act together if he wants to win the general election.

Obama, Clinton, McCain, and How They Will Let Us Down

Posted in News, Politics, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 29, 2008 by Rob

My View:

Here are our countries problems. A credit crisis, the beginning of a food crisis, oil at $120 (with projection up to $200), gas at $3.61, truckers are going on strike, tainted imports, illegal immigration, mortgage crisis, living outside our means, debt plagued society and country, Iraq, Iran, faltering economy, and to top it off an election with three similar and equally pathetic candidates. All these problems are just piling up on each other.

The next president is going to have a lot of work to do. The next couple of years are going to be very tough. Some young people never had seen a recession before. They just don’t understand what it is like to wait in gas lines. My father has told me how brutal those lines could get, fist fights, shooting, and killing. Some leading experts are saying that our economy might go into a depression. I mean 1930s depression. Where unemployment is 30% and countries go to war to jump-start economies. We must understand that we can no longer afford to think in the short term. Short term thinking got us to where we are today. The era of cheap prices and gas is over. We will never see gas like it was back in the late 90s and early 2000. Food will never be cheap like it use to. I can see in the future, that most of our disposable income will be used for the essentials of survival. This will not last forever though. Our economy will rebound and things will be back to normal. Prices might not be as low, but people will be able to still live comfortably.

That is if Obama, Clinton, or McCain don’t mess it up. Because Americans are worried, the candidates will say anything to calm the people’s fears and help gain votes. The candidates will calm the peoples fear by having the government as the solution. How will the government be the solution? More Government control. I don’t mind some government control. Sometimes it is helpful. Some governmental control can prevent extreme problems, like if there was more control in the mortgage market. We might have avoided the problem we face today.

That is if the government does not try to over-control industries. The government loves power, and the more power it has, the more of a control freak it becomes. Government has the tendency to over-control or regulate many industries, and that’s bad for business. The government shouldn’t try to make every failing industry successful, failed businesses happen, that’s capitalism. When the government over-controls or regulates an industry or service. That industry/service tends to perform poorly in a competitive market.

Sadly, I can see that the candidates are promoting more government control and regulation, and there is no American standing up to question it. If Americans continue to worry about affording big screen TVs, gas-guzzling SUVs, cheap stuff at Wal-Mart, and only care about short-term satisfaction; then, there will be problems, and politicians that will satisfy the will of the people with more governmental control.

Mike Easley Endorses Hillary Clinton

NC Gov Endorses Hillary

My View:

Uh Oh! Mike Easley the Governor of North Carolina and a superdelegate has just endorsed Hillary Clinton. This could put a wrench into Obama’s campaign. Hillary is proving that she is a fighter and isn’t backing down. This upsets the Obama supporters, but their not too worried. Obama still has a 9 to 13 point lead. Hillary still has a lot of catching up to do. Hillary still has a superdelegate lead over Obama; however, she is way behind in delegate count and the popular vote.

This decision to support Hillary is going to put the whole race (if it isn’t already) on its head. Now as Hillary gains more supporters. She is slowly becoming the more powerful candidate. Here is why. Obama has boat loads of money to spend and a commanding lead in North Carolina, yet Hillary is got endorsed while he didn’t. That proves that even with tons of money. Obama can not achieve results; while Hillary is making results, and not to mention, a lot less mistakes. She hasn’t said anything, lately, that would damage her campaign. It is possible to bring up the Bosnia fiasco, but that doesn’t compare to Obama’s ‘bitter” comments or his pastor. It is hard to believe, but Hillary is truly a come back kid.If Hillary can carry the Big Mo to the 6th of May, she could win Indiana. I really do not see her taking North Carolina because that’s Obama territory, but eight days is long time in politics. A lot of things can be said, scandals seep out, and blunders can be made. Obama needs to tread carefully and try to smooth over his past comments and especially with Reverend Wright interview that was held today. Obama is slowly becoming a polarized figure in politics. This is hurting the guy. He has to show that he can connect with the simple folk that cling to guns and religion. If he doesn’t, we know Hillary will.

Obama Sets Sights for Blue Collar Workers

Posted in News, Politics with tags , , on April 28, 2008 by Rob

Obama Eyes Blue-Collar Workers

My View:

Obama is getting nervous. His campaign managers are in a quiet frenzy. The New York Times reports, that Obama campaign has subtle changes. On April 22 Obama suffered a staggering defeat in Pennsylvania by ten percent. The now slightly worried Obama must show to the voters that his ‘bitter’ comment means nothing.  That he is not out of touch with the blue collar worker. This forces Barack Obama to pay more attention to their needs and maybe not make fun of them as much.

In the past couple of days Obama has visited a Methodist Church, got dressed up to watch a basketball game(of course in front of the cameras), played some basketball, and he started doing his town-hall style meetings again. Does he want to connect to these ‘bitter’ people? Yes he does! Hillary is doing a better job of capturing the attention wants, fears, and votes of the blue-collar workers; consequently, this force Obama to play catch-up. Still, he isn’t sweating bullets yet. He still has a lead over Clinton in polls, in some polls up to 10 percent!

He does need to take care of the common people, especially the blue-collar workers. His remarks and attitude turned many of them way. Hillary welcomed them with open arms. As the primaries in Indiana draws closer, Obama is trying to show the blue-collar workers. That he is just like them. Only that he is richer, an elitist like the rest of the candidates, and is running for president.

Clinton wants a Duel

Hillary wants Debate without Moderators

My View

I can see why she would love to debate Obama again. On their last engagement Obama was clearly the one to suffer. Not only did he dodge important issues or failed to give at least direct answer. Obama the powerful and eloquent public speaker, vanished during the Pennsylvania debate. His speech was littered with “Uh” and “ah” and of course my personal favorite, “uhhh and.” Don’t get me wrong, Obama is a great speaker, he just needs a speech writer and a TelePrompter.

In the artical Hillary has a idea. She wants Obama and herself have a sort of Q&A debate, where they just answer questions from either youtube or the audience, without any moderators. Hillary is completely for this, even former president Bill Clinton is pushing the idea. Obama on the other hand claims “We’ve had 21 [debates], and so what we’ve said with two weeks, two big states we want to make sure that we’re talking to as many folks possible on the ground, taking questions from voters.” What he means to say is “hells no. I screwed up last time, I am not going to do it again!”

As we all know Hillary is behind. Its true that a debate is a sure-fire way to make headway in the polls. Obama still has a lead in 9 point lead in NC and in Indiana he only has a 1 point lead. A good debate could send her surging froward, and leave Obama scrambling to fix the problem. That is only if Obama wants to debate; however, with the way things are looking, that isn’t going to happen. All Hillary can do is just keep chipping away at controversies. Praying (Ever since Pennsylvania, where I believe she became the defender of religion) and hoping that she keeps Obama on the defencive; allowing her to win key votes.

Just remember it is the McCain and the Republicans that are benefiting from this. McCain is hoping for a long fight between them. In fact most Republicans enjoy the thought that the Democrats might have a broken convention. Maybe Obama should just have the debate, or maybe Hillary should drop out. Either way, the Democrats are divided. This event does reminds me of a similar election. The election of 1912 had the Republican party split, some Republicans wanted Theodore Roosevelt, other wanted William Taft. They where divided and unable to reach some agreement, so Roosevelt started the Bull-Moose Party, Taft stayed with the Republicans; consequently this split cause the Democrat Nominee Woodrow Wilson to win the election.

In short if the Democrats don’t do anything, this will cause the Republicans to win.

My View:

Good morning! It is a Saturday, so try to relax, don’t worry about rising food prices and gasoline. Let me do that for you.

The news has been rather slow today. I guess its a Saturday. The big stuff is the rebate checks that we are suppose to get. The Congress and Bush decided to throw us some cash, but they decided to surprise us by giving the rebate sooner. The checks are being sent out on Monday, so many of us will have them this week. I put up another link that tells how to spend them. I am guessing many of us will use these checks to pay debt or for gas, which is not what the government wants. The rebate checks are a blessing and a curse.

On one hand our tax refund next year will be less and this “stimulus” package isn’t going to jump start the economy. Do to the fact most people are going to spend it on paying off debt or to keep the cars running. On the other hand, though, 300-600 dollars doesn’t hurt. That’s true for me.

The oil prices are still going up, but the Dollar is gaining ground (you can read that in my last posts) so that might reduce some of the price.

As for the Election, McCain is wanting a long race between the Democrats. Hillary is wanting the Democratic Party to acknowledge the results in Michigan and Florida. Obama, he is already gearing up for the General Election.

That’s all have to to say.

Peace.

My View:

First Thank you for visiting my site.
It has been a unique day in the news. The Economy is heading further into to dump. The Democrats are too busy arguing to unite and the Republicans McCain and Huckabee decided to join forces.
The Main headline is that oil has jumped. This time it was caused by raising tensions in the Persian Gulf. Iran and the US are at a ‘qusi-cold war’. There is a lot of rhetoric being thrown around, especially by Iran. What does this mean? In layman terms, it means higher prices do to the fact investors think the oil supply could be threaten by a war.
Is a war really possible? Yes and No. I can not see a war starting between the US and Iran any time soon, but it doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Iran does not have the capabilities to fight against a superpower, even if it thinks it is the world strongest nation. The US on the other hand, doesn’t have the political will to fight another war. It might happen if Iran continues defying the IAEA, and completely ignores the rest of the world, or attack Israel. Then there will be a war, but like I said. The United States lacks the political will to fight another war just for the hell of it.

Thanks Rob
